Kindergarten
Well one would think that sending their five year old to kindergarten would be an easy task to complete. However it is much more work that you would ever think. I am so happy that Ken and I decide to put Ben in preschool because there are so many things the school helps you with to prepare that I would have never know you needed to do just before you enrolled your child. I knew for the most part the basics of a dental exam and their shots needed to be up to date but I did not know they needed an eye exam also. I did not have my first eye exam up until a year or so ago. I also found out that the doctor when Ben was little gave him on of his shots to early so it was not valid and he has to get it again before he can enter school. He was suppose to have it before preschool but it slipped through the cracks because it looked like he was already given it. I have to say one thing about the school district he is in is really wonderful. They do everything to help you complete the requirements for free. They have a dentist from Orland park come to the school and do free exams and cleanings, as well as the Ronald McDonald buss to do the physical and shot updates. I was a little nervous about the bus with the medical on it but I called my regular Dr and talked to him about it and he actually said it was great to go to. He said it is all free and you don't have to pay the copay for your insurance and that he would recommend that I use the service then just bring the shot record updates to his office next time I come so they can update their records. That made me feel much better. They said most school districts don't offer that and it is wonderful and I should take advantage of the opportunity. I was shocked that would give such high props to the bus considering most Dr's are after your money. That is one reason I love that Dr office. They are so kind and will always tell you the best thing even if it does not benefit them. So we will have a busy summer getting ready that is for sure.
